Sabyinyo
Parc National Des Volcans, Rwanda
AT A GLANCE:
- High elevation trekking lodge
- Great views of the volcanoes
- Owned by a local community trust
- Good standard of accommodation in this area
WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT IT:
Built high on the lower slopes of Mt. Sabyinyo, Sabyinyo offers traditional mid-range style of lodging suitable to many guests. The main area has a large lounge, bar and dining area, with an outdoor terrace and a lovely lawn with fantastic views across the valley. Rooms are dotted up the hillside, with each room offering generaous indoor space that is kept up-to-date and a small outdoor verandah.
Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is owned by a local community trust, with the proceeds of your stay contributing toward sustainable local development, again, something we like for socially conscious guests.
There are a only a few good accommodation options that we recommend with conviction in the Volcanoes National Park Area. Of the suggestions that we make, we feel that Sabyinyo offers you the better quality and more comfortable lodging than the others in the area at this price point. Feedback from guests is good, rooms are comfortable, well laid out, well-appointed and bathrooms are clean. After a long day out on foot - either visiting the gorillas or doing some of the very scenic trekking that can be found around here - having a warm, comfortable lodge to come back to at the end of the day is a huge plus for us.
