WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT IT:

Nestled in the thick rain forest in the heart of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Gorilla Forest Lodge is remote and atmospheric. It is the only concessionaire luxury camp in the reserve, which lies in the southwestern corner of Uganda on the edge of the Rift Valley.

The surrounds of the camp are made up of ancient volcanoes, jagged valleys, waterfalls, lakes and dramatic mountain ranges, making it a thrilling and fascinating place to explore as well as sight many different kinds of unfamiliar and exotic animal species. The camp's accommodation is frequently visited by families of gorillas, allowing for some intimate and exciting encounters.

We recommend it as one of the prime places to stay for tracking the Gorillas, although not for family trips with very young children. Gorilla Forest Lodge caters more for the active, with tracking and bird watching involving walks through the forest.
